Braces for Teens

A confident life begins with a confident smile!

We provide a variety of different types of braces for teens who want a beautiful, radiant smile for years to come.

Teens, no matter what your day holds, we have an orthodontic treatment to suit your style at any of our five conveniently-located North Tampa, South Tampa, Wesley Chapel and East Bradenton offices.

Our orthodontists have decades of expertise detecting problematic orthodontic conditions in growing mouths and providing solutions that meet teens’ needs! Choose from Invisalign® for Teens, traditional metal braces, and ceramic clear braces.

What is the best age to get braces?

The AAO (American Association of Orthodontists) advises that children complete their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7, but it’s never too late to start treatment! It’s ideal to start treatment in the teen years, when the jaw bones are still developing.

While the jaw bones are still growing in the early teen years, we can create a custom treatment plan that works with your child or teen’s natural development. Our orthodontists will examine your child or teen’s condition and listen to your concerns and goals to help you make the best decision for your child or teen’s smile.

How do you know if you need orthodontic treatment?

The best way to tell whether you need treatment is to visit us for your complimentary consultation. Our orthodontists will assess the position of your teeth and bite to determine whether you could benefit from orthodontic treatment. We can detect problematic orthodontic conditions before they progress further and require longer or more intense treatment.

There are a few ways to tell if you’re in need of orthodontic treatment before visiting us. These signs could indicate an unhealthy orthodontic condition due to poor skeletal development, underdeveloped jaw bones, or a misaligned bite.

One of the easiest ways to tell if you need orthodontic treatment—do you hide your smile? If you hide your smile, cover your teeth, or avoid situations that may bring attention to your smile, it’s time to start treatment.

The teenage years are already challenging enough without a confident smile. Confidence will take you where you need to go in life!

Why is teen orthodontic treatment important?

Teen orthodontic treatment enables us to minimize or completely eliminate the need for treatment in the future.

When misalignments of the teeth or bite are left untreated and the jaw bones begin to stabilize, problematic orthodontic conditions may require more intense treatments (like jaw surgery) to reset the jaws.

Our North Tampa and Wesley Chapel orthodontist, Dr. Guloy  and our South Tampa and East Bradenton orthodontist, Dr. Cetta, can detect problematic orthodontic conditions while the bones are still developing, which allows us to intervene with braces or Invisalign® before these conditions progress.

Teen orthodontic treatment can save parents money and prevent problems in adulthood!

Orthodontic treatment is more than straight teeth. A healthy smile is easier to clean and maintain. When the teeth are crooked, crowded or misaligned, it can be difficult to brush and floss between overlapping teeth. Poor oral hygiene can lead to cavities, tartar buildup, gum disease, tooth decay, yellow teeth, and bad breath from bacteria in the mouth!

If the upper jaw (palate) is too narrow to accommodate all of the permanent teeth, this can force the teeth to overlap, crowd, and lead to complications when the wisdom teeth are erupting without enough space. Insufficient room in the mouth can cause snoring and restless sleeping, difficulty breathing, or even pain when permanent teeth are trying to erupt.

Poor orthodontic conditions can impact your quality of life, your health, and your confidence—and you may not even realize it!

It’s important to visit our orthodontists so we can assess conditions that are currently impeding your health or are likely to affect you in the near future.
