Yes, you can get braces on your first visit!

You can visit us for your first appointment and leave the same day with braces on your teeth? It almost sounds too good to be true, but we promise this isn’t an episode of Ripley’s Believe it or Not!

As a Same Day Braces orthodontist, we give you the option to get braces the same day as your consultation. Metal braces and clear braces are eligible for a Same Day Start.

If you choose Invisalign®, we can take your digital impressions on your first visit and immediately begin the process to have your clear aligners custom-made for you.

The braces appointment process at Blue Wave Orthodontics in Tampa Bay is convenient and tailored to your needs!

Our Same Day Braces Appointment Process

Before we dive in, there are a couple requirements that you or your child will have to meet to be a candidate for Same Day Braces! Here’s what you can do to prepare:

1. Receive a professional dental cleaning within 6 months of your orthodontic appointment.

2. Ensure that you do not need any fillings/restorations prior to starting orthodontic treatment.

Step 1: Request Your Complimentary Consultation

The first step to getting same day braces is requesting your complimentary exam with us! One of our friendly team members will contact you, collect any necessary information, verify your insurance, and get your appointment scheduled. Easy peesy, and less paperwork for you to fill out at our orthodontist offices.

Step 2: Come meet us!

You completed your part. It’s that simple! We’ll welcome you right into our office and guide you through the process.

You’ll meet with one of our knowledgeable treatment coordinators, have digital x-rays taken, and receive a quick scan with our iTero digital scanner. Our digital scanner can show you a simulation of your treatment results before you even begin treatment!

We’ll also take a few diagnostic photos of your face, mouth, and smile. This helps us build a comprehensive profile for your treatment. (Plus, it’s really neat to see these pictures after your smile transformation is complete.)

One of our experienced orthodontists, Dr. Cetta or Dr. Guloy, will then perform a full exam of your teeth and jaws, discuss any questions or concerns, and create your personalized treatment plan. Once you choose the type of braces you like, we can start placing your braces!

Your exam and a one-on-one with your orthodontist are included in your complimentary orthodontic exam, which means your braces consultation cost is $0.

If you choose Invisalign® clear aligners for your treatment, we can take your scans in about 10-15 minutes! Our practice has been recognized by Invisalign with the prestigious status of being an Invisalign Diamond Plus Provider – meaning our orthodontists in the Top 1% of Invisalign doctors! So you can rest assured that your smile is in expert hands.

Same Day Braces: The Placement Process

*Drum roll* And now for the moment you’ve been waiting for! During the most exciting orthodontic appointment stage, your new braces will be placed on your teeth. This process takes fewer than 30 minutes.

Here’s what you can expect:

1. Our orthodontic assistants will give your teeth a quick clean to prevent any bacteria from being trapped between your teeth and new braces.

2. Your orthodontist will attach your choice of metal or clear to each tooth using a dental bonding solution.

3. Your arch wire will be threaded through your brackets.

4. This wire will then be secured to each bracket using colored or clear ties. You can express your personality by choosing from a wide variety of colors!

The biggest benefit of same day braces is saving time. Getting your braces the same day as your consultation requires only one appointment, which means less time away from school, work, or hanging with friends. Your entire same day braces appointment process will only take about 1 to 2 hours – then you’re off to create your beautiful new smile!

With Invisalign, once your custom-designed clear aligners are created and sent to us, you can begin wearing them and watching your perfect smile fall into place!

Life with Same Day Braces

During the first two weeks of wearing your new braces, some tenderness and discomfort is normal. While your mouth adjusts to your new appliances, we recommend doing warm salt water rinses, using orthodontic wax, and eating braces-friendly foods. You can also take an over-the-counter pain reliever, like Tylenol, as needed.

We will discuss proper care and maintenance of your new braces once they’re placed. The most important part of braces care is maintaining great oral hygiene. Keeping your appliances and teeth clean helps prevent discomfort and cavities, or tooth decay.

1. Gently brush your teeth, gums, and around your braces 3-4 times a day. Make sure to use an ADA-approved fluoride toothpaste and a soft bristle toothbrush to keep your smile happy and healthy.

2.Use a Waterpik flosser. This makes flossing around your new braces easy and keeps them plaque-free! The best time to floss is right before bed.

3. Use an antimicrobial mouthwash once a day.

4. Stick to a healthy diet. Healthy foods give your teeth and gums the nutrients they need to fight off cavities.
