Dr. Randy Feldman Recognized for 30 Years of Membership in the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association

The Blue Wave Orthodontics team congratulates Dr. Randy Feldman on 30 years as a member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association! He was reminded of the anniversary with a certificate and letter that arrived by mail. The certificate thanked him for his support and encouragement of ACPA and the cleft and craniofacial community.

Craniofacial (relating to the bones of the skull and face) abnormalities–such as cleft palate–can occur at birth and is present in 1 in 750 births. If these conditions are left untreated, they can cause problems with nursing, feeding, speech, and hearing as the child develops and grows. They can also cause many problems for adults who are unable to have the abnormalities treated at a young age.

Dr. Feldman has treated over 3,500 craniofacial patients over his career! All the children were seen at All Children’s Hospital/John’s Hopkins Medicine where he has been on staff for more than 30 years. We're proud of Dr. Brockway too as she volunteers on the All Children's Cleft Lip and Palate team every month and provides orthodontic and dental advice to make sure these patients are well treated.

In July we wrote a blog in honor of National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness and Prevention Month. The article features a photo of an amazing patient transformation, so its very inspirational. Rachel Fusco was just age 17 when she underwent 5 and a half hours of Craniofacial surgery by Ernesto Ruas, M.D., FACS and 12 months of orthodontics with Randy Feldman, D.D.S, M.S.

Dr. Feldman shares, "you can learn more about and get involved with this important cause through awesome organizations like Smile Train, so take a look at their website and social profiles to learn more."

The Blue Wave Orthodontics team wishes our beloved Dr. Feldman many more years of making smiles and working with patients in need, including those with severe cases such as Rachel's.
