Chewing Gum May Prevent Cavities

So how is this possible? The ADA includes a video and article on its Mouth Healthy website that shares the results of its clinical studies on chewing sugarless gum for 20 minutes following meals.

The best time for all this chewing is after meals, especially if you don’t have a chance to brush or floss. The chewing increases saliva flow which washes away food and other debris. The saliva also neutralizes the acids that can damage tooth enamel. In fact saliva carries with it more calcium and phosphate to actually strengthen enamel.
